This marriage ended because of Ray Charles’ drug problem, extramarital affairs and constant fighting with Della Bea.

They had three children together, the name of their first child is Ray Charles Robinson, Jr., he was born on May 25, 1955, their second child is David Robinson who was born in 1958 and their third child is Robert Robinson who he was born in 1960. CAREER

After Charles graduated from the Saint Augustine School, he started travelling across Florida to perform with different bands. The experience he had from performing across Florida with these bands later helped his music career.

Ray Charles moved to Seattle when he was 16 years old. He later became a member of the band called the McSon Trio. He performed with this music band in the 1940s. Charles’ early style of play was closely related to Nat King Cole and Charles Brown styles – they influenced his musical style.

Charles released his first single in 1949, “Confession Blues.” This song was a hit on the R&B chart. He later released “Baby Let Me Hold Your Hand” and “Kiss Me Baby.”

In 1953, he got a recording deal with Atlantic Records which he celebrated by releasing his first R&B hit single, “Mess Around” with the record label.

In 1954, Charles combined gospel and jazz with blues to record a song “I Got a Woman.” This song was a hit and it was number 2 on the R&B chart. His songs “This Little Girl of Mine” and “A Fool for You” also had great success in 1955. His song “What’d I Say” made the Billboard Top Ten in 1959. This song made Charles a major and popular personality in R&B. He recorded his famous hit song “Georgia on My Mind” in 1959 with the ABC-Paramount label. The State of Georgia later adopted this song as its official song. He also won 10 Grammy awards during his lifetime.
